The celebration of a new era is always heralded by praise or sorrow. Tears have often birthed change. While tears are inevitable in birthing new things, like the birth of a baby, it breeds joy all around. Everyone gives endless praise for the arrival of the crying baby. This is not in any way sorrow. Its the necessary pain. A pain that gives way joy, celebration and praise.
At the end of every bitter war, a new era is also birthed. The United Nations is a post second world war era. The Mandela era is the post apartheid era too. All these are birthed in sorrow.
It is often said that the Nigerian independence was on a plater of gold. That is not the focus here. However, a trip to the achieves reveals great joy, praise and celebration. It was great.
Some days from today, the political independence Nigeria received, or obtained in 1960 will be celebrated. While many think there is nothing to celebrate, it is still clear that we should not dwell in sorrow. Let us celebrate. Let us offer a sacrifice of praise. Praising when it doesn't look like it. Join us as we do that....
